Amazon.com: Books: The Art of Project Management A really well done book on PM for software. Covers a great swath of information giving just enough details about each discipline to build the context you need to understand how it relates to PM. You'll be able to talk to marketing folks or usability experts and not sound like a fool while also knowing how best to use their skills on the project design. A whole bunch of hard learned guidance in one book. Not a cookbook, but a lot of tips and suggestions from someone who clearly knows whereof he speaks.

Includes 8 specific patterns visible in next generation web sites. Our intranet is mostly a web 1.0 design, but we might be able to change that. The big issue would be the perceived lack of control going to a more collaborative effort that would require."
