Duke's College Of Arts and Sciences IT Structure

Last year Duke College of Arts and Sciences re-organized their IT support to a central/decentral hi-bred. Here are Melissa's presentations on this:

Here's the presentation I made to the Baltimore EDUCAUSE last year on our distributed IT support model. There is a shorter presentation on this. Finally, there is a short write-up.

From what I could see Melissa runs an exemplary IT organization for her college. (The college of Arts and Sciences at Duke.) They have about 600 faculty and, from the slides, it looks like about 60 IT staff (that's a about three times the IT support staff we have for about three times the faculty here.) Here's their staff Breakdown:

Duke's Faculty Database Content Management for Faculty Information This is just like our Faculty Dataweb but it's built, been in use for 2 years and they planning making it open source! It's based on Open source tools and primarily written in perl. We should definately evaluate this.
